What Is Chain-of-Thought Prompting?

Chain-of-thought prompting encourages a language model to work through a problem in intermediate steps before giving a final answer. Making the reasoning explicit improves accuracy on math, logic, and multi-step tasks, and the idea inspired a new class of reasoning models that spend extra computation “thinking” before responding.
