What Is Stable Diffusion?

Stable Diffusion is an open-source image-generation model, first released in 2022 by Stability AI and collaborators. Because its weights are openly available and it can run on ordinary consumer GPUs, it spawned a large ecosystem of tools, fine-tuned variants, and creative applications, and helped drive the AI art movement.
