What Was AlphaGo?

AlphaGo was a program developed by DeepMind that, in 2016, defeated a world-class human player at Go — a game long considered too complex for computers. Combining deep neural networks with reinforcement learning and search, it was a landmark demonstration of modern AI and a milestone on the road to today’s systems.
